Executive Committee Notes
Call to order;
Attending: 1:30PM Elkhart, IN
- Vote on committee positions
- President- Currently; Mennone- Harvie?
- Secretary/Treasurer- Currently: Harvie
- LOC rep- Currently; Wenker- Hull
- Communication- Currently; Swartz
Vote: Harvie- President/Treasurer, Mennone- Secretary, Hull- LOC Rep, Swartz- Communication.
- Report from the Secretary/Treasurer.
- Membership numbers- 24 teams registered for 05-06.
- Budget report- $694 after expense of the Feb. 3-5 Joy of Sculling clinic.
- Harvie goes over the bylaws to make the current list of member states accurate.
- Referee Recruitment Requirements:
- We have about ½ the number of referees in the Midwest to cover the needs of all the racing taking place here.
- Motions to require all member teams/organizations to send 1 referee candidate to a mandatory meeting to recruit new referees. The meeting will take place during the lunch hour Saturday at the MJRC’s. All teams must send at least one representative. Any candidates that get sold on the idea of referee recruitment will then shadow a real referee for the next day of racing. 1st motion by Mennone, 2nd by Hull
- A letter describing the new program will be mailed to the member teams. LOC will help remind teams of their requirements at registration.

- Old Business
-Hosting a Coaches Social Saturday night of Midwest’s weekend. Keep it up? YES- Mennone to organize.
- New Business-
- The potential ramifications of the Youth Nationals changes on MJRC. Harvie to contact MSRA board to open lines of communication regarding potential impact of MSRA schools qualifying for the USRowing Youth Nationals through MJRC.
- the ramifications of the MSRA’s being in Cinci again? The LOC indicated that the state’s park deptment has been able to separate the two hosting organizations (Clermont and CJRC).
- encouraging more teams to attend. Swartz reported that he intended to continue working on more fast scholastic programs to attend.
-Small teams trophy? Discussion of adding a small team’s trophy to encourage those smaller teams who are hesitant to join the organization/championship. No decision made at this point. To be revisited.
- Hosting the annual clinic with Jim Joy again? Very positive feedback from those who were attendance. We are looking to continue this relationship. Discussion regarding the need to set rules/guidelines for the $50 rebate for those who wish to attend.
